Our neighbors asked us how we intended to celebrate our independence from the British. To be honest, I have never thought of Madaraka day that way. Well, this made me think of something I had read in a book, “the most important person on earth” by Myles Monroe.
Kenya was truly once a colony.
A colony is a comprised of a group of people/immigrants or their descendants who settle in a distant land but remain subject to the parent country.
This means that a colony
1. Is an extension of the home country in another territory
2. Represents values, morals and manners of the home country
3. Manifests culture and lifestyle of the original country
Now forget about us being colonized by the British. How much are we living like this as the church, if we truly represent the Kingdom of God on earth and are ambassadors of Jesus Christ.
- Do we represent the values, moral and manners of the Kingdom of God on earth?
- Do we manifest the culture and lifestyle of Gods kingdom?
The church is established on earth for the purpose of the Kingdom of heaven and given the assignment of making the earth like the home country. I hope we are doing this in our little ways.
So anyway, how did I celebrate my independence from the British?
Most part of the morning, I was at home with the kids; Chris had a site meeting which he had to attend to. When he came back, we went out for a swim to one of those places that people never go. Wonder why?-we always seem to be alone in this guest house when we visit. but do i complain-No! It’s 8kms off Mombasa road, it called Kusyombunguo guest house, somewhere after Lukenya. And I get to eat chapatti and spinach for 200Kshs and we always have the swimming pool to ourselves. Truly we colonized it!
Enjoying the freedom!
The guest house
Inside the guest house. This house i think it was initially someones home, its very homely.
We may celebrate our independence from the British, but as Chrisitian, we are completely and fully dependent on God. "Our citizenship is in heaven" ( Philippians 3:20); "We are ambassadors for Christ "
II Corinthians 5:20; our allegiance is to Christ, the King of the Kingdom of God; we are "strangers and pilgrims" in a foreign land I Peter 2:11.
The Kingdom of God should rule in our hearts!!!!!!
Is Christ ruling in your heart today?
