Well, that is how my kids say it too. That is how I have said it many times. So I am trying very
hard to teach them to own up to their mistakes even as I learn too.
Mum: Tana, who
told you to go to my bedroom and take some chocolates
Tana: Its Kendi, she
gave me, she went upstairs and…..the story goes on….
Mum: Kendi-why
are you tearing that book?
Kendi: Tana was
playing with it…..and the story goes on…
For a long time, I struggled with owning up to my own
mistakes and i still do sometimes. And I guess it is always earlier to shift
blame on someone else. But I think it is a great sign of maturity for any Christian
to own up to failures.
I say failures because we all want to own success…don’t
we?!
Yes, when things go wrong,
we must always ask ourselves how we contributed to the going wrong. My blog friend Holley shared the other day about pride and for sure, pride does manifest itself in many
ways, including, when we think, we are right and they are wrong. We are righteous
and they are to be blamed!
Please lets learn to own up, I am learning how to do so and shape
up to Gods’ grace and goodness! I just love Jesus!
Ems to be sincere I always miss the cheekiness of ua kids....I do love their drama and all the "clever" moves they make. but yeah! you are s right..we need to train them to own up their misdeeds by doing so ourselves even when they also catch us red handed.

Mommy: Ri we have agreed that biscuits are not healthy for your teeth, how comes you are eating one?
Ri: I was given by Shiro (Her best friend)
Mommy: Give it to Mommy right now!!
Ri gives the biscuit unwillingly and Mommy throws it to the bin
Next day, mommy is eating some crackers and Ri finds her
Ri: Mommy why are you eating biscuits and we agreed they are bad for your teeth?
Mommy has no answer (How do I explain to her that they are not biscuits)
Ri: Give them to me to take to the bin right now!!
What to do????
Kate you are funny! and your daughter...you are in for trouble...thanks...am still Lol....miss you!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how we we will own our successes but are reluctant to own our failures.
ReplyDeleteBeing decades beyond these questions -- I'm still laughing! You'll do fine, but they'll catch you in words and action quite often.
