Why is it important

Why is it important for children to obey their parents?

Is it because they make us look great and don’t embarrass us in public?

Is it because it makes us feel better as parents to have little characters that we can control around?

It is because it rubs our ego and it reminds us of just how we were equally parented and the need to do the same?

Well, I have been pondering on this, the bible says that “for this is just and right and that it may be well with you and also there is a promise of a long life”- awesome unchangeable – unquestionable Word of God. And there is much more scripture to this question.

It is important for our children to obey us, because there a great promise to this and it is just and right. However in the same manner if not greater, our Lord and savior demands that we Obey Him!

Now the question I have for us is this? 

How do we translate our demands on our children to obey us, if at a personal level we as parents (adults) have not come to appreciate the need to OBEY GOD!!!

I would love my children to obey me, BUT even greater, my desire is that they will learn to obey God. And if obeying their parents, helps them to appreciate the need to obey God, help me Lord to OBEY you!

First and second

First  - It’s been busy. I am used to blogging early morning, but sometimes I find myself so tired to wake up early and the only energy left is for my me-time with God and there are also day when I am catching up on some unfinished assignment from the previous day.

One thing that I have truly tried to keep up with is my time with God. That remains a constant and I would encourage all Mums to do the same. No matter how busy it gets, God first and all the other things will sort themselves.

In one of those moments, I was having a one on one conversation with God, you know how you look at your diary and just wonder where to start, the Lord spoke to me so clearly, He said “This is my day, I made it and i have only asked you to rejoice in it! – That was fresh! That message sank home, when we say that this is the day that the Lord has made, we are actually saying that this is His day given to us.  So no matter how it looks, there is grace and His demand on us is that we rejoice in it! 

So I hope you are rejoicing every day, it the Lords! 

 

Secondly – Have you ever imagined how it is to have a fully equipped solder in battle but not fighting back? A month ago, I cried out to God and ask pleaded for His mercy over a situation in my life – this was the reply – “Use the Sword”. Okay, then the Lord allowed me to see myself, as a well equipped solder, tucked somewhere in corner, but instead of fighting back, am literary  freaked out and just crying out God Help, help, help! 

So the enemy is busy attacking, as much as he cannot harm (because I am protected), I am behaving helpless, desperate, oppressed! Well, guess what, THE WORD!!!!!!!!! This is the sword! This is what we use to get on the offensive! You start fighting back; the enemy flees…use the Sword, take ground, your ground, your promises, your place, your family, your children!!!!!

Tana T. 3rd Birthday

Tana  T. turned three yesterday! We have nothing but praises to Jehovah! God is awesome and we marvel in His faithfulness.

Enjoying their presents. We have a band of GREAT singers in our house.  Anytime they will ask for musical instruments. Tana wanted a key -board do badly. 

So they are singing all day in the house now....

Happy Birthday Tana. We love you, you are wonderful, special girl. You posses such great administrative gifts, carrying out your task to the very end. You are a great leader, your have great strength and endurance that others look up to. You are blessed and the Spirit of the living God is at work in your life in ways that you cannot fathom.

Dad: Well, we are already married. I already married her!

Silence (Parents wondering where that came from)

Dad: Why do you ask, what do you mean?

Kendi: No, its okay, its because i also want to marry Tana ( Her Sister)

My girls in office

For some reason I am really BUSY in fact, right  now, i am in Kisumu. However, I am currently learning to set boundaries, once I am done with that lesson I will share on the need for Mums to establish boundaries. I am also learning to get just a little bit organized. I think 40% of what i call stress can be dealt with if I become a little organized. 

 All that said, I am bit swamped with work and in trying to stay above the water, some time back, I choose to go to office with the girls. They had so much fun and I was so glad they went with me. They are on holiday and having a blast at home as well. They loved counting the cars on the highway from the 24^th floor of the office block. Needless to say , they ate a little to much on the said day!
